Principal Researcher

Dr. Abreu is an Industrial Chemist with a strong background in chemistry and materials science, specializing in probe electrochemistry and Raman spectroscopy. During his Ph.D. at the Federal University of Ceará (Fortaleza – Brazil) and Cornell University (Ithaca, NY), he conducted cutting-edge research in molecular films on noble metals. He then continued his research in the area of vibrational spectroscopies of semiconductor materials under extreme conditions at the Department of Physics at UFC and in plasmonic materials applied to catalysis at the Institute of Chemistry at USP. Currently, he serves as a Visiting Professor at the Graduate Program in Chemistry at UFC, where he has established the Laboratory of Materials and Devices (Lab MaDe). His primary research interest is the development of inorganic and hybrid low-dimensional semiconductor materials applied to optoelectronic devices.
